Would you like to go out to eat during your vacation at Le Clos Bouyssac? In this blog post, we share with you five of our favorite restaurants. We have chosen places suitable for (young) children or for a romantic evening for two. In addition, all these restaurants are within a short distance from the campsite.
Le Caillau
This French restaurant can be reached within 10 minutes by car from the campground. You can also go by bike! In summer, dine in the beautiful courtyard. You will enjoy a seasonal menu there with matching wines. This restaurant is also suitable for people who eat vegetarian food. We recommend this place for when you want to eat out with your loved one or with friends. Reservation is advised, you can do it through the website! If you are curious, then click here. You can also find it on Instagram via: @lecaillau.
L’effet Maison
L'effet Maison serves French cuisine with a modern twist. This restaurant is about 30 minutes' drive from the campsite. We really like the location, it is situated in the old town of Monflanquin. The menu moves with the seasons and the chefs use local products. In the menu, you will find a list of products used in the dishes along with the postal code. In that way, you can see that everything comes from around the neighborhood. Nice, right? Are you a wine lover? Then you've come to the right place as well. They are happy to recommend a wine to match your menu. For children there is the same menu, but in miniature. Thus, they can still taste everything. It is the suitable for children who like a lot or are not afraid to try something new!
Do you eat vegetarian? There is at least one vegetarian choice with every course. In high season, we recommend making reservations. Are you interested in this restaurant? Then click hereYou can also find them on Instagram via: @leffetmaison47

La Vénus
This restaurant is located in the village of Prayssac. It is about 20 minutes' drive from the campsite. You have a choice here between an à la carte-menu or a menu du jour. We like to choose the menu du jour because we like to be surprised. On the à la carte-menu, we really like the Magret de Canard with homemade fries. Is your favorite course the dessert? Then, the Snickeris highly recommended! There is a separate menu for children. In summer, you can eat in the garden, the terrace area being covered with large tarps. At the back of the garden, you will find a playground for the kids. We recommend making reservations for both lunch and dinner, preferably a day in advance. You can make reservations by calling. Restaurant Du Pont
If you are dining out with your loved one or friends and are looking for a truly local experience, this is the place to be. The restaurant is located in Castelfranc and is about 25 minutes drive from the campsite. Christine is the waitress and her husband is the cook, together they run this restaurant all year long. In the summer, you can eat in the courtyard garden, it is very cozy. The menu evolves with the seasons and the wines are all local. This restaurant is very popular for its mussels. When it's the right season, they are always on the menu. We recommend the clam casserole with the garlic sauce, with homemade fries and mayonnaise.
Restaurant du pont is very busy on weekends. Calling in advance is wise. Do you want to take a peek? Then, click here.

Le Clover Steakhouse
A French steakhouse restaurant in an American western ambiance? Definitely! Le Clover has been around for about two years and is located in Montayral. It is about a 20-minute drive from the campsite. This restaurant has a wide menu for every age and serves tasty burgers, steaks and spare ribs, among other things. It may not be an authentic French experience, yet many local people come here! This restaurant is ideal for big appetites, growing adolescents and more picky eaters. The service is very friendly and the owner runs his restaurant with visible pleasure. Reservations are not necessary, but when you come with a larger family, it is wise. You can send a message via their facebook page.
A couple more tips
In France, lunch is the most important meal. When looking for a restaurant, we recommend checking the opening hours. For example, some restaurants are only open in the afternoon. If a restaurant is also open in the evening, it is often later than we are used to in the Netherlands; 19:00 or 19:30. Many restaurants are open on weekends, but are closed on Mondays or Tuesdays. Our favorite restaurants in this blog post are open in the afternoon, but also many evenings. Our guests -and also ourselves!- still prefer to go out for dinner in the evening 🙂 .
Would you rather stay on the campsite? No problem, come and eat at our place! In our restaurant, open from 18:00 to 22:00, you can enjoy a fresh plat du jour (menu of the day) or a homemade pizza. They are made with love every day and you can take it away to your tent. Do you want to know more about our restaurant? Then click here and scroll to breakfast, dinner & drinks.
We hope this blog post makes you want to eat out! Did you find another fine restaurant during your vacation? Please let us know! We will write about it on this blog page.
